Deacon Rudy and Monique Leyva

Dearest Fellow OLA Parishioners,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my wife and I.  My name is Deacon Rudy Leyva. My wife, Monique and I have been married for 34 years and have five beautiful children: Jessica, Stephen and Michael (who are twins), Matthew and Benjamin who is a junior at Bishop Amat High school. Also, we are the proud grandparents of Isabella and Elijah Leyva.

Monique and I have been a deacon couple for 12 years and had been parishioners at Sacred Heart Parish for approximately 30 years.

During those years we had served in various ministries, such as: Adopt-A-Family, San Gabriel Winter Homeless Coalition and the Thanksgiving Outreach Project. We have also served as ministers of Communion, lectors and religious education instructors.

I was ordained as a deacon in 2007 with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and work full time as a dentist. I have been a dentist for over three decades and enjoy being able to provide my patients with the best of care.

In 2016 we moved to the city of La Verne and after much prayer and discernment, have been led by the Holy Spirit to minister to the beautiful parish community of OLA. We recognize that this is now our new home away from home. Our transition has been smooth, and we feel very blessed that Fr. Charles Ramirez has welcomed us with open arms, and the good people of OLA have been most welcoming to us.

We look forward in working with all the clergy, deacon couples, staff and faculty and you the parishioners of OLA. Thank you once again for your loving support and we look forward in meeting each and every one of you.
