First Communion

This years program will be different. We are asking that at least one parent be present for four (4) parent meetings. I understand that these are mandatory for my child to receive the sacrament. Entiendo que estas juntas son obligatorios para que mi hijo reciba los sacramentos.

 

 

We welcome you and are glad you have chosen to prepare your child for First Holy Communion. This introduces Families of Faith, our model of preparation for First Communion. 

 

MISSION:

The mission of Families of Faith at OLA is to develop strong households of faith that are rooted in the Gospel of Christ, connected to the parish, and engaged in the sacramental and liturgical life of the parish.

 

GOALS:

• Promote family holiness.
• Initiate new members into the Catholic Faith.
• Strengthen the personal faith of parents and increase their knowledge of Catholic Faith.
• Equip parents to share and teach the faith to their children.

 

Our First communion program is a two consecutive year program.

Every year we face the reality that preparing children to receive First Communion does little to increase the faith and the holiness of the home. It is not just a matter of teaching children to say their prayers, but helping the entire family to become more prayerful.

 

It is not just a matter of preparing a child to receive Christ on the day of their First Holy Communion, but of helping the entire family to receive Christ into their homes every day.

 

At Our Lady of the Assumption we are convinced that in order for families to grow closer to God and become more holy, we must equip the strongest members of the family with knowledge and experience to help the entire family to grow stronger in faith.

 

For children 6th grade and older. Please check our RCIC Program.

 

YEAR TWO children come to weekly classes every Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. or Sunday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. Parents come to four mandatory parent meetings "The Search". Fees for year two are $120 per child, this includes all fees for reconciliation and First Communion.

 

We invite all families to attend SUNDAY MASS as part of their preparation for the sacraments. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

Be a registered OLA Parishioner

Baptismal certificate
