ViNA fights rural poverty among the Maasai Tribe of Tanzania, Africa, with health education, wells and latrines for clean water, and empowerment of women through job training, animal husbandry and small business loans.

Hi I'm Anita Boling who started Village Network in Africa 13 years ago we began trying to do for Community Development at which point we after a while we moved to Tanzania where we focus on areas that are more in my review because I'm a nurse and a psychologist sanitation and water programs so we are currently I'm working with the massage and the people that I work with on the ground are the sisters of Notre Dame true them and their group women's Empowerment Group and the leaders of the Maasai communities we are able to work towards our goal of improving their health and their lives so the Maasai tribe RC who have been living in the exact same way for hundreds if not thousands of years and we work with deep in the bush right now there are many challenges because they have diseases that we don't see here the disease of Cholera and malaria they're also in many of those are water-borne they also have many diseases related to the fact that they have child marriage and female circumcision so these are all things in our health education we provide them a lot of yellow deeper understanding of health challenges that these practices create so at this point we are when we go in we do a full Village assessment and then we work on those areas such as clean water if that's in Wells or rain catchment programs and then we do health education to women's Empowerment Group is the leaders and we're also integrating education into the classroom since this point so this is where with all these Pro we're doing was sanitation and whatever this is where your alternative gifts come in these people have not had latrine or you know bathroom place we have they going out in the bush which is very has a lot of health challenges in itself so when you provide concrete you are making it to actually be able to build the toilet if you are providing animals you're helping women to get to raising two animals sell and to get money for school for the children so that they can actually attend school where before they were not attending school at all so I have different pictures of some of the things that been donated and one of them is education for preschool education otherwise the children were running around with nothing to do and so they're actually learning. the chickens that you've all purchased here's a picture of one of the sisters of Notre Dame that I work with and home assessments that we do prior to teaching here is one of those improved latrines for people that did have them they were very and most people just went out in the bush so we teach them about washing hands using a tipping cap which is a touchless hand washing station and these are people learning how their health education and this is one of the rooms where we were teaching it's also pictures of wells that were put in and a water a rain catchment system so this is there's a lot that that you do by any of your gifts the goats everything he's really provide a lot for the people in there very very thankful so I want to thank you all wish you a blessed Christmas and hope to see you soon thank you bye
