Save the Date! - February 14, 2025
Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church extends an invitation to couples who are interested in celebrating the Sacrament of Matrimony in a Group Wedding Ceremony on February 14, 2025.
This invitation is for any couple wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony, including those who have been civilly married, perhaps for many years.
Today, there are couples in our community, living together, raising families, without being married, but longing to provide an example of faith for their children. During the years of Covid, some couples were married civilly, but still long for the blessings and graces of a sacramental marriage. Other couples married civilly to save money, always planning to “get married in the church” but are still looking for an affordable option.
For couples in a civil marriage, Convalidation is sometimes called “having your marriage blessed”. Convalidation is not simply a blessing or a renewal of a previous intent to marry. It is not simply recognizing a legal union by the church. Convalidation is the creation of a valid union in the sight of the Catholic Church. It is, in fact, your marriage, in the church, before God and witnesses. It is a sacred Sacrament!
With this Group Wedding, OLA wants to highlight the importance and beauty of the Sacrament of Matrimony to our families and community and to assist and encourage those couples who have not yet received the graces of the Sacrament.
Some couples, wishing to marry in the Catholic Church face obstacles such as a previous marriage. Please know – there is hope! If you have a previous marriage, please call us to make an appointment to confidentially discuss your situation and determine the best path forward.
A six-month period of preparation is required. Please contact us NOW to begin the process.

La Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción extiende una invitación a las parejas que estén interesadas en celebrar el Sacramento del Matrimonio en una Ceremonia de Boda Grupal el 14 de febrero del 2025.
Esta invitación es para cualquier pareja que desee celebrar el Sacramento del Matrimonio, incluyendo aquellos que han estado casados por el civil, quizás durante muchos años.
Hoy en día, hay parejas en nuestra comunidad, que viven juntas, forman familias, sin estar casados, pero anhelando dar un ejemplo de fe a sus hijos. Durante los años del Covid, algunas parejas se casaron por el civil, pero aún añoran las bendiciones y gracias de un matrimonio sacramental. Otras parejas se casaron por el civil para ahorrar dinero, siempre planeando “casarse por la iglesia” pero aún buscan una opción accesible.
Para las parejas en un matrimonio civil, la convalidación a veces se denomina “bendecir su matrimonio”. La convalidación no es simplemente una bendición o una renovación de una intención anterior de casarse. No se trata simplemente de reconocer una unión legal por parte de la iglesia. La convalidación es la creación de una unión válida ante la Iglesia católica. Es, de hecho, vuestro matrimonio, en la iglesia, ante Dios y los testigos. ¡Es un Sacramento sagrado!
Con esta Boda Grupal, OLA quiere resaltar la importancia y la belleza del Sacramento del Matrimonio para nuestras familias y comunidad y ayudar y animar a aquellas parejas que aún no han recibido las gracias del Sacramento.
Algunas parejas que desean casarse por la Iglesia católica enfrentan obstáculos como un matrimonio anterior. Por favor, sepa: ¡hay esperanza! Si tiene un matrimonio anterior, llámenos para programar una cita para discutir confidencialmente su situación y determinar el mejor camino a seguir.
