What did St. Paul look like? He is described in the "Acts of Paul and Thecla" as being "a man little of stature, thin-haired upon the head, crooked in the legs, of good state of body, with eyebrows joining, and nose somewhat hooked, full of grace: for sometimes he appeared like a man, and sometimes he had the face of an angel." Written about 160 AD, the "Acts of Paul and Thecla" is regarded as a collection of unreliable legends, but elements of it, including this description attributed to Paul's co-worker Titus, may have some basis in fact.

Recently discovered image of St. Paul in a cave above Ephesus. It may be the earliest likness that we have of him -- possibly as early as the third century.
