OLA Blood Drive is June 25

+ Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion.

+ Over 41,000 blood donations are needed daily.

+ Sickle cell disease affects more than 70,000 people in the U.S. About 1,000 babies are born with the disease each year. Sickle cell patients can require frequent blood transfusions throughout their lives.

Academic Year 2017-2018
Applications for new students are now being accepted at OLA School for 2017-2018. Call weekdays for more information or to arrange a personal tour at (909) 626-7135.

Summer School
Experienced educators staff OLA Summer School in two sessions: June 19 to June 30 and July 3 to July 14. Offered are Reading and Writing (K-7), Math (K-5) and Study Skills (4-7), in addition to Algebra Review (6-7). Students may register for up to three one-hour classes per session at $100 per class plus $50 registration fee.

Summer Camp
Summer Camp is open June 19 to July 28 for kids ages four to thirteen, Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Weekly, daily or minimum day rates are available. The fun comes to OLA for art, drama, dance, gardening, cooking, sports, water fun, science and raffles. Call (909) 626-7135, ext. 225.

Anniversary celebration for Fr. Chris Troxell

Join Cardinal Roger Mahony and Bishop David O'Connell at the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, June 17, for the 25th anniversary of ordination of Fr. Chris Troxell. Guests to the dinner reception in the auditorium following the Mass are asked to reserve a place in advance at the parish office or on the patio after Mass (Knights of Columbus table). Requested donation is $5 per person (under 10 years of age is free).

Spiritual discernment presentation June 13

Join the OLA Prayer Warriors at a follow-up to the recent Holy Spirit Seminar Tuesday, June 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. in church. It is presented by Dr. Terri Escalante, author of a guide to Fr. Timothy Gallagher’s books concerning the rules of discernment of St. Ignatius Loyola. “Spiritual discernment must be studied to understand how to move forward in the spiritual life. Life is a spiritual battle, and we need to know the rules of engagement,” she notes.

Sign up for JustAct study: Hunger for Change

This study module from JustFaith explores the realities of food insecurity in the United States and around the world. It was created in partnership with Bread for the World to inspire faith-filled action.Parishioners are invited to sign-up on the patio after Masses Sunday, June 18. The module of eight sessions begins in July. For more information, contact Deacon Jim Allgaier at (909) 626-3596, ext. 216. In this program , a prayerful process is created that includes the study of Scripture, dialogue, and an “immersion” experience with people who live in marginalized communities. The group will also engage in spiritual practices that illuminate the reality of food security. Finally, the group will vision action steps to address the root causes of hunger.

Scholarship honors Sr. Feliz Gil-Jiminez

An OLA scholarship has been set up in honor of Sr. Feliz Gil- Jimenez, the Felician Sister who served the communities of OLA, St. George and Pomona Catholic High as teacher and principal. The scholarship will be awarded to an OLA graduate planning to attend Pomona Catholic. You may bring or mail donations to the parish office with checks payable to “OLA” and “Sr. Feliz” on the memo line. Sister has retired now to New Mexico. Her address is

Informal Sunday veterans' gathering

Several U.S. Veteran parishioners gather for coffee (and to hear or tell stories) in the auditorium Sunday mornings between 8 and 11 a.m. All are welcome! Bring photos, scrapbooks, memories or anything others might find interesting. This is not a formal gettogether, just coffee and interesting conversation. If you come on scheduled USO collection days (the second Sunday of the month) be sure to bring something for the donation box.

Young Adult Ministry

Are you between the ages of 18 and 30? The young adult ministry is a ministry designed for young adults to grow in faith with people of their age while having fun. We have a wide variety of activities designed to please everyone: spiritual events, community service, educational adventures, and social nights. All young adults are welcome on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. at the convent. Invite your friends to come meet new people and share new ideas.
