What a humbling experience it is, that while reflecting upon the parable of the treasure in the field, we recognize that as individuals we are each that treasure for which God has given His all so that we may reside together with Him. My name is Fr. Ron Clark and I can’t wait to meet all of God’s treasures here at OLA!
Although I was born and raised Catholic, it took me some time to recognize that I too am God’s treasure. I grew up locally with my parents and five siblings, three brothers and two sisters, where I attended both St. Frances of Rome School in Azusa and Damien High School in La Verne. God has also blessed me with a son who now has two children of his own. So, yes that makes me a priest and a grandpa. It was my son who led me back to God, allowing me to rediscover my vocation to the priesthood.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I also enjoy genealogy and studying my family history. This has given me a greater understanding of the many walks of life we all experience, filled with both the joys and struggles of life. What a joy it brings me as it connects me closer to the communion of saints and all of God’s people who have traveled this path before me.
Prior to entering the seminary, I was a foreman and superintendent of a construction company, a private investigator and a youth director at Immaculate Conception Parish with Fr. Charles. Since I drifted from my path as a young teen, God has placed a great love in my heart for young people along with all those who struggle in their faith.
It may take me a bit to connect all the new names and faces, so please be patient with me as I try to get to know everyone here at OLA. Please come up and say hello as I look forward to meeting you all. Rest assured that you are in my daily prayers, and have been since even before my ordination, as I awaited the news of my new assignment.
May the peace of Christ remain with you.
